The Arizona Republic: Body of California resident recovered from area below the rim in Grand Canyon National Park

A body was found and recovered from an area below the rim of the Grand Canyon in the national park on Tuesday, according to the National Park Service. 

The body of Lillian Meyn, 31, of Woodside, a town in California's Bay Area, was found about 300 feet below the rim in an area near Trailview Overlook along Hermit Road, according to a park service news release. 

On Monday, Meyn was reported missing by a family member, and Meyn's vehicle was located later that day on the South Rim near the Bright Angel Lodge. 

The Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating the death. No further information was released.
